On Sunday 9th October 2011, a team representing Gibraltar from the Gibraltar Taekwondo Association competed at the Southern Counties Open Championships held in Southampton, UK.
The Event was organised by Master Joe Brown.
Over 200 players from all over England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Denmark and Czech Republic amongst many others, competed at said event. This included the team from Great Britain and also players who had competed at World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

CHRIS FORTUNA - CHILD Under 33kg - BRONZE
JAKE POCOCK - JUNIOR Under 58kg - BRONZE
JAKE POCOCK - SENIOR Under 58kg - SILVER
LORENA GARCIA - JUNIOR Under 61kg - QUARTER FINALS
LORENA GARCIA - SENIOR Under 61 kg - SILVER
BRANDON TOSSO - SENIOR Under 74kg - SILVER
ALEXANDER TRINIDAD - SENIOR Under 80kg - GOLD
NIALL FRANCIS - SENIOR Under 83kg - QUARTER FINALS
WAYNE ESTELLA - VETERAN Under 72kg - QUARTER FINALS
The team was accompanied by Master Edward Garcia, who together with Brandon Tosso coached the team.
Lorena Garcia at her "senior" semi-finals knocked out the Commonwealth Champion and later fought and lost in the final against Jemma Johnson, who won bronze at the World Championships.
The Gibraltar Taekwondo Association would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the team and coaches and would also like to thank their respective families for their support during the hard training sessions.
