On Saturday 2nd May 2009, Alexander Trinidad together with Brandon Tosso, representing the Gibraltar Taekwondo Association, took part in the 2009 British National Championships held in Manchester, UK. A total of 190 participants competed in their respective categories. 

Alex competed in the -72kg category, although he lost at the quarter finals against his opponent Osita Arustuka-Hill from Iran. Brandon competed in the -78kg category and also lost at the quarter finals against his opponent Aaron Cook, who came 4th at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Both opponents participated at the event representing the Great Britain team. 

Alex and Brandon were accompanied by Senior Coach Ernest Garcia and Coach Jansen Reyes.
